Regarding the end of Telltale Game’s the Walking Dead: Season One, I knew what was going to happen. Something had to have gone wrong with either Lee or Clem or both. That’s just how these types of games work. What I am honestly surprised about is that Omid and Christa are presumed to still be alive. In the ending I chose, Clem shot Lee after he told her to go find them. I wanted there to be just a little bit of hope for her. I really liked them as a couple and as role models for Clem, just some kind of parents for her. I like that in the post-credits scene, you see two people in the distance, leaving it up to the player’s interpretation, but I chose to believe that they were Omid and Christa. I have to believe that, just so I could justify Lee’s death in some kind of way. I ended up looking up another ending on YouTube, just to see what would happen. I had thought that if I didn’t have Clem kill Lee, that he would end up killing her. After watching the other ending and realizing that she survives either way, I am torn. On one hand, I wouldn’t have had her go through the trauma of killing her father-figure, but on the other, I wouldn’t have wanted Lee to have become a walker; I would much rather he be put out of his misery, just not by his poor little daughter. Something that stood out to me was that in both endings, Kenny sacrificed himself for someone else, either Christa or Kenny. It caught me off guard, but when stopped to think about it, I think that is just such good character development; in my mind, Kenny has grown the most out of all the other characters, going from only wanting to protect his family to not caring about anything to wanting to kill his team to sacrificing himself for a member of his found family. I had grown to not like Kenny, but I cannot argue that his end was a bittersweet one.
